Maine Environment Links: About these pages
Welcome to the Maine Environment Links web pages. My goal is to identify and link the most useful web resources, as well as books and other printed materials, on the environment in Maine. The "environment in Maine" is defined loosely enough to include a broad range of topics, and the net has been cast widely enough to bring in websites that are not specifically focused on Maine. This project began in the 1970's as the Maine Environment Bibliography, which was an extensive source listing and annotation on a limited number of topics relating to the atmosphere and earth sciences. The content of that publication, which is now mainly of historical interest, will be available online here eventually. The Maine Environment Links web page began in 1999 as a way of sharing a couple of big collections of links that Dick Harvey and I had collected independently. It was initially hosted at www.curtislibrary.com, the website of Curtis Memorial Library in Brunswick. It was moved in fall 2003 to www.airlineroad.com. I am presently (late fall 2005) working through corrections to all of the pages -- most of which need extensive updating -- and hope to have the existing content corrected and revised by late December 2005. I hope to have many additional pages online by February 2006, and to keep a regular revision regime in place thereafter.I want Maine Environment Links to be useful to students, teachers, journalists, elected officials, and anyone interested in the future of our state and the planet. Let me know what you think. I welcome your corrections, as well as suggestions for additional links and new topics. Please email me. Special thanks to Dick Harvey.
